Everytime I am on Oahu I make a list of restaurants I want to eat at and this will forever make the cut. Uncle Bo’s is a modern casual restaurant in a nondescript building found in Kapahulu. It’s nearby the famous Rainbow Drive-In and you could literally pass by it and not know, if you weren’t looking for it. Once inside it’s modern loungey decor is quite surprising. Their menu consists of unique pupu’s, which in Hawaiian means appetizer platters. They do have entrees, but family style platters of pupu’s is the way we go when were here. Anytime I get to try a multitude of menu items, I’m there. They have a full bar and a great mixed cocktail menu. It was a great place to have a nice dinner with a group of friends. We were totally casually dressed. Maybe a bit too casual, but casual is pretty typical in Hawaii. I will definitely be back here someday for more pupus!

#1 item on the menu is the BOCA-ROTA, garlic cheesy-bread, prime-rib strips, sautéed mushrooms, and mozzarella cheese. It’s so incredibly delicious! Kind of like a deconstructed philly cheese steak but better!
DYNAMITE SHRIMP which is wok-fried in garlic chili aioli, topped with a parmesan panko crust
THAI-STYLE STEAMER CLAMS 1lb sweet Manila clams simmered in a mild chili, garlic oyster sauce. that sauce though.. I soaked up all of da sauce with that whole loaf of bread.
BO’S BIG NACHOS w/ kalua pig, ham, onions, mushrooms, melted mozzarella on crispy won ton chips. Add avocado! Do it!!
We also tried the Kalua Pork Sliders on taro buns and hot hapa potato rolls which had bacon and potato inside a fried egg roll. can’t go wrong with any of that!
